Frenquently Ask Questions?

Q  I've heard there is "cheaper" Coolmax® out there, is there a difference?
YES- Our coolmax products are all Coolmax® Extreme. Others may cheapen the fabric by adding filler fibers like cotton however if you want a shirt that has been an industry leader for years look and ask for Coolmax® Extreme.

Q  There are others out there selling the same garment you have, why should I buy from Tailwindtees?
True- others offer the same product at the same or close to the same price. We do a little more by giving back to the people who use our products by supporting events thru our retailers by giving away primes or prizes thru the races they support. At one recent event Tailwindtees gave away 11 primes making sure participants got a little more for their entry fee. Also, all of our garments come with Tagless labels for Extreme comfort.

Q  What events have you supported?
Beach Blast 5K, Albemarle, NC
Tour de Kale 5K, Denton NC
Tour de Kale Bike Ride, Denton NC
Carolina Cup, Greensboro, NC
Cycle North Carolina,

Q  Is Coolmax® fabric made from polyester fibers?
Coolmax® fabrics are designed to move moisture away from the body and enhance fabric drying rate thus, keeping you feeling cool and dry. Coolmax® fabrics deliver performance and comfort through the use of proprietary polyester fibers with unique engineered microchannel cross sections and/or specially engineered two sided, denier gradient fabrics made using Coolmax® qualifiable polyester or nylon yarns. The comfort of Coolmax® fabrics can be enhanced by using elasterell-p or introducing Lycra® elastane.

Q  Is Coolmax® a treated polyester?
No, Coolmax® is not a treated polyester. The performance of Coolmax® is inherent in the fiber structure itself, thereby providing consistent performance wash after wash.

Q  What's the difference between Coolmax® fabrics and other polyester fabrics?
Coolmax® fabrics are specially designed to provide not only superior moisture management, but also to enhance the wearer's comfort. The specially-engineered fibers using Coolmax® fabrics provide enhanced breathability (called "air permeability" by the techies) that differentiate Coolmax® from generic polyester fabrics, which use standard round fibers. Air permeability is just one of our key performance tests that fabrics must pass before they can be sold as "Coolmax®". And, remember, that all of the benefits of Coolmax® fabrics are permanently built right into the fiber, requiring no chemical treatments like those other wicking fabrics.

Q  Why are Coolmax® fabrics more comfortable?
Moisture management + breathability equals total comfort.

Q  Do garments made from Coolmax® require special care?
Most garments made with Coolmax® fabrics are machine washable and dryable; however, fabric softeners and chlorine bleach should not be used. Some garments may require special care because of the garment style, not the fabric. It is best to read the care label inside the garment.

Q  Can you silk screen print on Coolmax®?
To maintain the outstanding drying performance of Coolmax® fabrics, we recommend heat transfer printing over silk screening. Light coverage silk screen designs may be acceptable. If you do screen-print, we recommend designs that don't cover the primary "sweat spots" on the garment.

Q  Can I dye my Coolmax® t-shirt?
No, Coolmax® is made from proprietary polyester fibers, and polyester requires special dye procedures.

Q  Can Coolmax® be worn year-round?
Yes. In cold weather, Coolmax® is a great first layer, especially during high aerobic activities. It's superior moisture management will keep the bone-chilling perspiration away from your skin and move it to the outer layers for evaporation. Remember, you can't stay warm if your body's wet!

Q  What are the advantages of Coolmax® vs. cotton?
Besides its positive effect on maintaining body core temperature, Coolmax® is fast drying, breathable, and resists fading, shrinking and wrinkling.
